Terms of use

Veni Vidi (veni-vidi.eu) is an independent guide to the Roman sites you can visit, run from Slovenia by Vanja. It is not connected with the museums, parks and authorities that run those sites. There are no accounts and nothing to buy. By using the site you accept these terms.

Questions, corrections and requests about your data: [email protected].

Check before you travel

Everything here is written with care and traced to its sources, but places change faster than any guide. Opening hours, prices and access can change without notice, a site can close for excavation or repair, and a path can become impassable. Where a page gives hours or prices, it says when they were checked and where they came from. Confirm them with the operator before a journey that depends on them. The guide is offered as it is, without any promise that it is complete, current or free of errors.

Maps, coordinates and walking times are for orientation, not navigation. Walking times are estimates, and the positions of a few vulnerable sites are deliberately rounded; their pages say so.

Visiting

You visit any site at your own risk. Ruins are often uneven, unfenced or remote, and some stand on private land. Respect closures, fences and signs, follow the rules at each site, and leave everything as you found it.

Text, photographs and data

Links to other sites

Pages link to operators, museums, sources and maps elsewhere. Those sites are not under our control, and a link is not an endorsement of them.

Privacy

Vanja is responsible for the personal data this site processes (the controller, in the words of the General Data Protection Regulation). There is very little of it:

The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in running a secure website and knowing which pages are read (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). You have the right to ask for access to your personal data, and for its correction, deletion or restricted use, and to object to its processing: write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia (Informacijski pooblaščenec).

Liability

To the extent Slovenian law allows, Veni Vidi is not liable for any loss, damage or injury arising from the use of this site or from a visit to a place it describes. This does not exclude liability for intent or gross negligence, which the law does not allow to be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Slovenia, and disputes about them are decided by the competent court in Slovenia. If you use the site as a consumer, this does not take away the protection that the mandatory law of the country where you live gives you.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
